It was a display of wealth for Victorians and they loved coloured glass, very much playing into the Gothic appeal of the period and their thrill in hosting dinner parties. It is unlikely that leaden plates would ever have been thrown for ships etc when broken, more likely wealthy Victorians discarding broken pieces of their own accord by lobbing them into the sea. \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eAnother possibility for origin, in terms of pale grey sea glass, is that is came from 1960's cathode television screens which very likely would have been viewed, through its thick glass, the 1969 moon landing.
