PAUL’S VISION…

The brand’s namesake comes from ancient Scottish folklore that should you lay face down in amongst a field of heather here in Scotland and close your eyes, you may feel the tiny hands of the faerie folk, rubbing a magic ointment on your eye lids, giving you the gift of Second Sight or the ability to see the world in a new, more beautiful way. In fact, there are many ancient tales from Scotland that specifically reference being “In The Heather”. It certainly got the Director, Mr Paul McParland wondering…

Paul launched his first shop in the Summer of 2023 at the Hidden Lane in Glasgow. His vision is to change the way that people think of Scottish products with an emphasis on luxury, quality and authenticity. Scotland is not all tartan and indeed Paul has recognised that people all over the world have Scotland in their blood and in their hearts and sharing a little piece of a genuine Scottish experience is his life’s goal. Indeed, there are many overlooked flowers and animals that thrive in the heather fields and heather is one of the most integral parts of Scotland and its vibrant history.

FINALLY… A GENUINELY SUSTAINABLE, ECO BRAND

All our packaging and inserts are made with re-cycled paper/ cardboard and our plastics are biodegradable. We like to “shop small” and use suppliers that are independent and also have firm sustainable values. Our resin is eco friendly and although a derivative of the petrol industry (as every single resin on the market is today), it is made with the waste that would otherwise not have been used and is then mixed with 50% plant sap material. All the flowers that we use in our botanical jewellery is hand picked, home grown and supplied to us by farmers and small families here in Scotland. The plants are collected without removing the roots so they grow back year on year and are usually collected at the end of their season, once the insects have fed on them and pollination elsewhere has already happened. We are big on re-using and we offer in shop candle refills, recycling and more. On any delivery, we re-cycle any cardboard. All our silver and gold is re-cycled.
