Pepper Dulse - Isle of Skye seaweed necklace in sterling silver

Pepper dulse (Osmundea pinnatifida) has been a vital food source for remote islanders and coastal communities here in Scotland for centuries and is often referred to as the truffle of the sea. It remains a traditional (although much rarer) snack to this day. 

With the importance of dulse for sustaining life in remote areas here in Scotland, we collected a small handful from the Isle of Skye with the land owners permission, dried the seaweed over a course of weeks and preserved it inside a plant based, UV resistant resin. Finally, encasing the specimen in sterling silver.

We hope you can wear your new necklace with pride, knowing that the very land the seaweed was collected from contains abundant heritage and that this seaweed species has saved hundreds, perhaps thousands of lifes when food supply was short.
