Inspired by sea cottages in Kintyre, this incredible sea glass pebble is a smokey tone of grey, reminiscent of coal smoke rising from these little cottages. It is a reminder of simpler times, cosy sea life and finding the joy in the perfectly imperfect.
Grey sea sea glass namely comes from one of either two sources - Victorian lead based tableware or old cathode television screens (which were thick) circa 1969. From the width and bubbles within this glass, it is likely that this piece was a glass factory mistake and was too bubbly to use. It may also have been an apprentice piece as each and every piece of glass was hand blown during this time period. The bubbles could be an error in the glass blowing or mixing process.
This is the darkest grey we have ever seen as sea glass.
